Sumer Wandering

Hello my friends!

What a Spring and Summer it has been! I hope you all have had an exciting summer filled with sun, bbqs, family and friends. This spring started off with a lull, anxiously awaiting my grand babies being born and staying in the studio trying to get as many paintings finished as I could knowing it would get busy. I had two grand babies born within weeks of each other, as I traveled to NC and back to see them born. A third and fourth came this summer, and I feel like the luckiest grandma in the world!  Going from an extreme high of love with the babies, it was hard getting back to the easel and into being inspired to paint again. I needed something to get me outside and see natures beauty again.

I will give you a sneak peek of what our women’s artist camping trip entailed, we will have a full article with pictures and details coming out soon. In July, five ladies from around the US went painting in the Snake River in Southeast Idaho area. Artists are like herding cats, everyone has deadlines and plans, so we were very fortunate to get all five of us together!  We had such a great time talking art and life!   If you would like to watch our YouTube video of this trip, there is a link below.

Plein Air Trip Idaho 2024

In August, nine artists from the Kneeland Gallery drove up to Red Fish Lake, Idaho in the Sawtooth mountains for a plein air event. Lori McKnee, Steven Lee Adams, and I, all dear friends for many years, painted at the inlet of Red Fish Lake.  Lori and I wandered up to Stanley Lake, it was rejuvenating and a deeply spiritual experience – especially now because the area is engulfed with the Wapiti fire which will certainly change the landscape of the area.

As you can see from these breathtaking views, I have a lot to work with on future paintings. It’s such a blessing to be able to get outside, be inspired, and restore my creative juices.

I truly hope you have had great summer experiences as well.  Cheers to an exciting end of summer and a new Autumn coming soon!
