Hello friends!
I hope you all had a wonderful Spring, Summer is upon us and it’s time to get outside and explore! There is no better place to see the beauty in the natural world than our country’s very own National Parks. As many of you know my love for painting truly started from my admiration of nature and the time I have spent outdoors. There are 61 national parks in the United States and the large portion of my paintings stem from many of these national parks. As I continue to visit our precious national parks, I create collections for each park to show the various elements and beauty each park uniquely represents.
Glacier National Park is the first national park I would like to talk about, it holds a special place in my heart. Established May 11, 1910 this National Park has about 26 glaciers, 130 crystal blue and aqua lakes, and a breathtaking scenic route called Going-to-the-Sun road. Right outside of the park resides some wonderful cities such as Whitefish, Columbia Falls, and Kalispell. Here are a few pictures I have taken during my explorations. I am in the process of finishing some smaller studio pieces so stay tuned they will be posted online.
I have been invited to participate in a “Timeless Legacy” the second week of August at the Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell with a group of talented women artists from around the country. Here are two of the three pieces that will be in the show. This is a very beautiful museum and prestigious show and I am thrilled to be participating this year!
This piece is called Sinopah In Backlight. It is a 30×30 oil on linen panel. The painting is done from a hike around Two Medicine Lake on the East side of Glacier.
This piece is called Brilliant Hillside, 24×30 oil on linen and is from Going To The Sun Road in the late afternoon.
